Mind is everything

I want to just talk about the mental aspect of diet and exercise because I believe that it is the start or everything that we do in life.  One of my favorite sayings is "Thinking is an action" which was said by Kai Green which I will give a link to his video at the end of this blog.  So want I want to convey to the people that read my blog is that thinking is really an action a good example of this is professional athletes because even though they play at the top level they all started out by one day thinking that they wanted to play this sport or try that sport and ended up in the pros and a result of that initial thought.  So what I want you the reader to do is close your eyes and think about what you want your body to look like and what you want your health to be like.  After that all you have to do is take the first step and half the battle is already over and I say that because most people are afraid to start because they are afraid to fail well I am here to say I have failed at my dreams many times what matters is that you keep trying.  A great motivational speaker by the name of Les Brown has many saying on fear and one of them is that the grave yard is the richest place in the world because of all the people who were afraid to live there dreams and that no one else can have those dreams.  So I want you to take that first step and get over the fear of failure.  Then when you start don't quit another Les Brown saying is "It's not over until I win" which he states was said by his ten year old son that's the kind of attitude we should all have in life.  I understand that this post has turned away from sports a little but I believe that sports can teach us or demonstrate this to us.  Also when you diet or exercise there will be a point where you will have to deny self immediate gratification to attain that goal that you want.  This point can not be stressed enough I see people give up all the time when the should just take one more step another saying by Eric Thomas is "don't cry to quit you already in pain cry to keep going get a reward from it" or by Lance Armstrong "pain is temporary but if I quit however the pain will last forever"  I am writing all these saying just to try and get you motivated to go after your dream even if its to lose ten pounds or to become a bodybuilder or an NFL player all you have to do is try.  To describe the work you will have to do is from a store that I heard from Eric Thomas that is to long to write so I will link a video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTFnmsCnr6g Sorry that the video is so long.  To finish it off I would like you to watch the Kai Green video because I think it will bring it all together for you just to realizes how powerful one thought can be in your live and what impact it can make because one thought can lead you to any change you want to see in yourself.  Here is the video  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrd8qnLQC0Q enjoy.

Organic Foods

This is just a little info. on organic foods been real busy with midterms.  From the research I have done which was very little for now almost everything you buy has added chemicals in some way.  Even if they say its organic how organic can it be with chemicals in the air and run off from water in surrounding areas  and then with the wind that can carry pesticides and herbicides for miles.  So to find real organic food it probably be best to grow your own.  As for  the aspect of sport there is some other stuff to think about such as in chicken breast and beef.  For those looking for added help in recovery from sports or physical activity store beef is the way to go because they inject steroids into the cattle you will get the added benefit of getting a small amount of that and this will help you recover.  Now if you eat chicken breast a lot like I do try to get organic or as organic as you can get because they inject chickens with estrogen to increase the breast size on the chicken but this has bad effects on recovery even for females who are physically active.  Now animals that say organic are really hard to believe because the animals eat plants or feed which is usually not natural and can effect you.  So for animals to be organic their diet has to be organic which usually leads to small animals and less meat which businesses hate.  So if you really trust the companies that say they are organic then that's cool but I would say to be sure grow your own.  There are a lot of added benefits to organic food your organs don't have to work as hard to detox your body.  Also there are usually more nutrients in organ food that are more readily absorbed into the blood.  But the only side effect is usually organic food does not last as long as to mean they spoil quickly.  Other than that organic food is usually better for you than the processed foods we eat I will try and get more details for you this weekend.

Diet

Well to start out on this topic most people eat way to many carbs.  Most people may not think that they eat to many carbs but if you follow your diet for one day I bet your wrong.  For anyone who wants to start a diet of any type the first thing to do is follow your normal diet for one day.  Count all your calories including food, snacks, drinks, and anything that you consume that has any type of nutrients.  See how many calories you eat in one day then see how many carbs, fats, and proteins you eat.  To see the percentage of carbs are in your diet take the total grams of carbs multiple that number by 9 then divide this new number by the total calories consumed.  You do the same thing for fats and proteins EXCEPT  you multiple by 4 instead of 9.  This should give you a good estimate of your diet and if you carbs are over 40 percent you eat to many carbs.  Now I believe in tell you why not to eat so many carbs so that you may actually listen.  There have been many scientific experiments done by doctors that has show that a high carb diet is more likely to lead to diabetes, in some cases cancer, a decrease in cognitive thinking, and many other health issues I just thought these might get your attention.  Now if you go research these experiments you might see some that say bad things about to protein these experiments usually tell you in the beginning that the patient or patients had some kind of disease before the experiment started but with the carb experiments it was with health patients who developed this things over time following a high crab diet.  Now before you freak and change you diet like crazy you must slowly change your diet or you will have health issues also.  The max I would recommend is no more than a 5 percent change in anything in your diet.  Hope this helps whoever reads it.

Resistance training

Well since my teacher told me he used resistance bands to workout I figured I would research a bit about them.  Resistance bands are a good workout for people with bad joints or if you are coming off an injury and are getting back into shape.  As to make resistance bands as your main routine in your workouts is not a good idea if you are looking to build strength or muscle mass.  Resistance bands can get you to a certain  point in fitness then you need to introduce your body to new stresses to increase strength or muscle mass.  In the terms of muscle mass resistance bands will do almost nothing to gain mass.  In terms of strength resistance bands can be super helpful to a certain point then as mentioned earlier you need to introduce new stresses.  Such stresses for those with injuries might be underwater aerobics to strengthen ligaments and tendons or very let weight free weights or cable machine workouts.  For those with joint problems underwater aerobics would be best.  Underwater aerobics are basically getting in a pool or water and doing full range of motions of the joints that you want to workout or improve on.  Also for people with joint problems very light free weights can be done but with very light weight and very smooth motions with a very good warm up before doing workouts.  Well I hope this helps those interested in resistance band workouts.
