Well since my teacher told me he used resistance bands to workout I figured I would research a bit about them. Resistance bands are a good workout for people with bad joints or if you are coming off an injury and are getting back into shape. As to make resistance bands as your main routine in your workouts is not a good idea if you are looking to build strength or muscle mass. Resistance bands can get you to a certain point in fitness then you need to introduce your body to new stresses to increase strength or muscle mass. In the terms of muscle mass resistance bands will do almost nothing to gain mass. In terms of strength resistance bands can be super helpful to a certain point then as mentioned earlier you need to introduce new stresses. Such stresses for those with injuries might be underwater aerobics to strengthen ligaments and tendons or very let weight free weights or cable machine workouts. For those with joint problems underwater aerobics would be best. Underwater aerobics are basically getting in a pool or water and doing full range of motions of the joints that you want to workout or improve on. Also for people with joint problems very light free weights can be done but with very light weight and very smooth motions with a very good warm up before doing workouts.
